MARVEL at the Ital-IA 2022

FBK’s contribution to project’s achievements presented at the 2nd CINI National Conference on Artificial Intelligence

Our partner, Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), represented by Luca Zanella outlined FBK’s contribution to MARVEL’s progress through his presentation titled “Responsible AI at the edge: towards privacy-preserving smart cities” at the Workshop titled “AI Responsabile e Affidabile” that was held on February 10th, 2022, as part of the Ital-IA 2022, with more than 30 attendees.

During his presentation, Mr. Zanella argued that with the massive amount of data produced by ambient environmental sensors, many AI-based solutions are emerging to support new smart cities applications but the challenge is how to deal with personal information contained in these data. In the MARVEL Project, FBK proposes privacy-preserving techniques, deploying video and audio anonymisation components at the edge level. As part of his presentation to ital-IA 2022, Luca Zanella discussed the technical challenges of each component, current progress, and future directions.

Ital-IA is the second CINI National Conference on Artificial Intelligence, organized by the National Laboratory “Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems” (AIIS), created by CINI (National Interuniversity Consortium for Informatics). The laboratory now has 58 nodes which include almost all the Italian universities as well as CNR, FBK and IIT.

The main goal of the conference was to create an Italian network between all the players who do research, use applications, and are interested in Artificial Intelligence issues.
