MARVEL at the Slide2Open Shipping Finance Conference 2022

The Slide2Open Shipping Finance Conference took place in Athens on Wednesday 2 & Thursday 3 March 2022 and was also live-streamed via its 3D Virtual Venue approximately attracting more than 10.000 attendees from 80 countries.

ZELUS was invited to the “The Seaports of the Future” session which took place on the second day of the conference to present the research projects it’s contributing to, as part of the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation program. The session was organized by the DataPorts project in association with OTE Group of Companies in order to demonstrate EU initiatives toward the seaports/ shipping and Maritime transformation from a research point of view.

In this context, ZELUS’ Delivery Manager Dora Kallipolitou presented the MARVEL project, and reflected on how multimodal extreme scale data analytics can be collected, mined, and processed utilizing a distributed and secure Edge-to-Fog-to-Cloud ubiquitous computing framework not only in smart cities but also in the context of smart ports.

The project gained visibility to more than 6000 viewers that attended the session (data statistics provided by the event organizer) and initiated collaboration discussions with potential projects and experts in the field of AI such as the project Vessel-AI.
